I found a Texas quarter yesterday that looks, at first glance, to be silver. Doesn't ring, so it's not, but it doesn't have the characteristic "two-tone" rim. This one's all sliver with no copper showing.

Any ideas?

the simplest explaination is that the coin has been plated.

can you weigh it ?

a standard State Quarter weighs 5.67 grams

a silver quarter weighs 6.25 grams

a picture is always helpful also !!

Thanks for the bump to the right forum and the reply.

Can't get a good pic with the camera I have, but the quarter weighs 5.81grams. That means it's not silver I guess, which I pretty much knew all along. The rim is the same shiny color as the front and back of the coin with no hint of copper for that "two-toned" appearance on edges.

I just happened to see it while sorting through my change and wondered why it was different.
