I picked this up a few months ago. Please grade the details, and try and ignore the gouge in the reverse, and the rim dings. I think I got a pretty good price on it because of the damage. I will tell you what it was graded by the seller and the price after I get some replies...

I don't like the inner circle next the rim on the reverse. May be something fishy.

I question if it's genuine.

I bought if from a pretty reputable dealer who specializes in Buffs. Dave's, 'The Collectors Friend."

Aye, but (1) we all make mistakes (2) fake 1913-S TIIs are a dime a dozen (well, ok, about $12-$25 a dozen wholesale nowadays), and (3) this guy has a *lot* of damage.

Looking past that damage (at least from what I can see) something does look definitively off about it. It has to be a *really late die state* to get that level of mushiness and Cuds, and there are parts in the details of the hair that seem to be too *deep* where the area just under his nose (between his nostril and his bottom lip) looks too wide.

Would you consider sending it into The Black Cabinet for a closer look?

This coin screams "fake". So many red flags I'm not sure where to start. But rather than give an itemized list of the problems I would do like Steve Caruso suggested and send it to the Black Cabinet.

Sure. Do I need to send the actual coin in, or just pictures?

Generally, pictures will do if the counterfeit is obvious or is a variety already listed on the site. This one, however, might be best sent in as the battery of in-person tests is much more conclusive. (And if it ends up certified as inauthentic, then you have some leverage to get your money back from the guy who sold it to you in the first place.)
