In the Blue Book (Page 220 for 2012) for Uncirculated Mint Sets there are MINT letters following the years. P-D-S is indicated following 1947-1955, 1968-1974, and 1980-1981. There are only S circulation coins showing for 1949-1954. I bought a 1981 mint set, one of the P-D-S years, and it only had P and D coins. Can anyone shed some light on why these years are marked P-D-S?

Look at it again. It should have three Anthony dollars in the set, a P, a D, and an S. The 81-S Anthony was the only S mint circulation quality strike coin in 1981.

There is a third Anthony dollar with S. Thank you. I see there are also S circulation Anthony dollars for 1980. Also, taking your lead, I checked and there were circulation S coins as follows added to the P-D sets. 1947-48 added the quarter, 1951-1954 added the quarter and dime, 1955 added just the dime, 1968-69 added the nickel, and 1970-74 added the penny. Thanks again.
