I've tried searching various forums, but most threads are a couple years old now. Basically I'm referring to Numismedia's prices: http://www.numismedia.com/fmv/price...icesgd.shtmlhttp://www.numismedia.com/fmv/price...icesgd.shtmlFor example are 1982 to 1984-P nickels and 1982-1983 Quarter's in low grade, say G4, really worth more than 5 or 25 cents respectively? Is that beat up G4 1983 quarter really worth $2.30? I understand that due to the no mint sets those years mint-state+ quality coins of those years could catch a premium, but what about the well circulated coins? I also understand that prices/values are only as high as someone is willing to pay. So, is anyone actually buying beat up 1982 nickels for 25 cents a piece?

I can't imagine that they are, they are not scarce in grades below AU. Apparently they're scarce in gem uncirculated grades because of the lack of mint sets and generally poor quality from the mint in those years, but if you want a circulated one, you can find them roll searching.

No premium in my view ... these are readily found in roll searches. David

...just deposited a couple of well circulated 83-D quarters in a vending machine. Spend 'em if you got 'em...or hold on to them...your choice.

Most likely, if a dealer listed such a coin and you ordered, they'd ship an au/bu.

I doubt anyone would pay that much for them.

I wouldn't pay above face value for them, so I doubt most others would.

Yeah the NumisMedia prices on some low grade coins are a bit wonky. I guess it may come from ebay listings? (Averaging a roll of them? Those have a premium. Not a clue...)

Always remember that price guides are just that, GUIDES. Being a GUIDE they could give you an idea of what to ask for if selling a coin. This never means that is what you'll get for one, but possibly what you could, should, might ask.

Yah. I was wondering if their values for their mint-state coins are somewhat accurate and then for the lower grades they keep scaling down the price for each main grade. That might work for other coins where as the quality lessens so does the price, but with the 82-84's the scale doesn't work like that and it completely drops off once you're under MS/BU/AU/etc.
What about the higher quality side of their price guides? Are those prices more accurate for what people might pay for these coins in mint state?
