With a mintage of 26,928, I offer this coin for your review. According to the USPS website, the coins were delivered to PCGS this morning.

Nice coin! Hope it does well at PCGS.
It will be interesting to see their opinion on the darker obverse areas seen on the hat brim, eye brow, cheek and beard. On the image it looks like a little rub which could move it into the Choice AU category. But it could just be something showing up in the image that isn't a real problem on the coin itself.
As nickelsearcher mentioned in his comments for your Roanoke, check the coin for unbroken luster across the areas I've mentioned. It should help to determine the grade of the coin.
Enjoying the posts!

with commems wise comments. The trouble with trying to grade any fine coin by photos is the issue between AU and MS ... tiny breaks in luster that indicate circulation wear make all the difference. I can't tell for sure based on your photos ... no one can by photos ... this could be AU58 ... or based on the lovely surfaces MS65. Interesting to note what appears to be a die crack on the reverse Confederate shield ... noted on the upper 1/4 of the shield ... I've never seen a die crack on this coin in this position ... Hoping this lovely coin does well at PCGS. David

Excellent coin! Glad to see the potential concerns I raised about the dark areas being rub were just an artifact of the image vs. actual wear/rub on the coin. Another winner!

Thrilled to see this lovely coin come back as PCGS MS65 ... another excellent addition to your growing set Bill. I humbly suggest that I got lucky on grading your submissions ... 3 of 4 correct ... and that MS65 Bay Bridge still blows my mind ... but was a learning for me. Looking forward to your future coins in this greatest of all USA coin series ... classic silver commemorative. David
