I have also only got rolls twice. Bags are easier anyway IMO. I asked the woman last time and she said its luck of the draw they dont get to choose which type they get in.

I'm a big fan of the $100 bags that people deposit into banks. You open the bag, tip em out, then bam, 100 bucks opened. And I get on well with the staff at both the branches I go too - both being in country areas.
Unfortunately, my favourite one services small community so rarely do they have the full bags, but the branch manager is nice. I get on the phone and say "Hey Rosie, it's Tim and put in my order on Tuesday mornings, then presto - on Wednesday I can show up and collect!" - Which I think is good service, and helps them too, because they need more transactions to get their staff allocation up!
I like the small bags, hate rolls with passion!! Super passion!!

I like the rolls. At least when they are packed like that they are not bumping into each other. I am hanging out for payday on Tuesday - Wednesday I noodle.

I have had good luck with one bag where there were lots of coins which had been collected and then cashed in. However there is also the chance you get another noodlers refuse. I think the chance of a concentrated lot of good/bad coins is higher with bags.

I like bags because you can do some "window shopping" before the big event.
I do wonder what people make of the bags I took back last time - open one and it's only 82 games 50's, open another and they're all 77 jubilees, yet another and all 2001 non-state feds etc heheh

Need assistance from experienced 50c Noodler!
I picked up $300 in 50c pieces today, first time I've gone the bigger demon! I got a ridiculous amount of commemorative coins, I didn't think that would be the case - but 31% of my coins, or $90.50 were commems.
1970 Cook $1 1977 Jub $2.50 1980 Double Bar $1 1981 Wedding $1.50 1982 Comm Games $9.50 1988 Bicent $1 1991 Ram Head NIL 1994 Y.O.F $7.50 Y.O.F WIDE 0.50 1995 WEARY DUN $4.50 1998 BASS $6 2000 ROYAL VIS NIL 2000 MILLENIUM $4 2001 FEDERATION COA $18 NSW/QLD/NT/NI $4 2002 WINDMILL $4.50 2003 VOLUNTEERS $2.50 2004 ANIMALS $3.50 2005 WW2 $10 COMM GAMES $8 2010 CELEBRATE AUS $1
My plan would be to keep 1980 DB, 1988, 1994 W/D, 01 States - but should I be keeping any of the others?
My issue is knowing whether this lot is common or whether I got some old lady's coin collection who was at the bank dropping it off earlier today.
Not a commem but got a really nice 1993 COA too --

It is usual to find a large number of commems, as there have been quite a few released for most dates, but 31% still does sound high.
You're on the right track with those - 85's, 93's, 01 States would be recommended - and if you're looking for some varieties to go with your 94 Wides, don't forget to check your 00 Millenniums for the incuse. As for the others, it's up to you how many high grades you keep.

Not sure about this. I have been keeping heaps, but I think I will have too revise. Maybe 70 (depending on condition) 1981 wedding - there do not seem to be all that many of these - keep if nice Not sure how many 2010 there are, but I have too many of these and will be returning some to the wild.

Grabbed another $400 today. Got 27% worth of commemoratives, so possibly around 30% is where it sits?
Scored 4 2001 state series (qld, vic, norf, wa), 2x1997 coa, 3x 1988 high grade
Also got 4 1980 double bars, and 1 1979 double bar - but are these worth keeping?

I would keep all the ones you just listed. I dont think any of them are really worth much, but they are are not so common.
