I sold a roll of Buffalo nickels on ebay that were ALL mint marked either D or S. I received this email from the customer:

Quote:
Hello, I bought a roll of restored Buffalo nickels from you a little while back and I have just had the chance to go through them now. Late, I know. But your description said {it} came with a 1921 S and I didn't find one. The only 1921 was a D.

Dang! I should've KEPT that one! Probably worth a fortune!!

...or maybe all of the previously published magazines, books, and other numismatic material was WRONG...and there are a handful (or more) of these 21-D Buffaloes. I seem to remember reading about this sighting before.

Can we expect to see revisions to all the Buffalo albums out there? I would gladly give up the 1918/7 or 1937 tripod slot.

Reminds me of the guy I met at a bank who swore he had a 1907 LWC. I would like to see that...

I told him in a real nice and patient way that there was no such thing and that, in fact, there were no D mint coins 1921 through 1923. Suggested he look inside a Buffalo album or pick up a copy of the Red Book and check it out for himself. A short while later he wrote back that he, in fact, had a copy of Red Book and was embarrassed that he didn't look there before writing to me in the first place and that he loved the coins. All's well that ends well!!
