Okay so heres my first day and this is what I got. The pic with the rows start from bottom left 1942- top right 2011. I havent got all of them but each row is a decade. I havent even searched for errors yet or anything! The other pic is from 1960-1964 the best ones of those years that I pulled. I got all my coins out of circulated rolls. I'm just really having fun with this and there is so much to learn I cant WAIT! hopefully I have some good stuff! That 62 and 63 are pretty darn clean! anyways guys let me know what you think. Remember this is my first day!
P.S - I only pulled one coin that was out of the 40's : (

I also wanted to know how to distinguish a proof coin? Let me know if you also would like to see any of the pennies I got today..Each row starts at 0 for example 3rd row is the 60's starting with 1960 and it just goes up a year each stack to the right. I had to make more than one stack per year in some cases though

it shouldnt take you too long, I have a lincoln set I've been working on here in canada. I currently have every date and mint mark from 1914 to 2011. I aquired the ENTIRE collection through circulated canadian penny rolls...you americans sure are letting some good coins slip past the border!

True, unfortuately. So many people just take jars, cans, boxes of coins laying around to a bank. When times are tuff, that is what people do. So coins from way, way back just get into change.

Sometimes not easy if they've been in circulation for a while. Best thing is to get a copy of a book on coins. There are web sites that specialize in just the Lincoln Cent too. Not sure but I think it's called The Lincoln Cent Resourse or something like that. Also, naturally a copy of the Red Book would help. Proof coins usually have the appearance of a coin that has been polished with a buffing wheel. Unfortuately many people do polish coins to make them look like proofs.

Awesome finds and glad to hear you are having fun searching for them.

Pick out the best one. The one with the least amount of wear and looks nicest.

There are coin folders and albums to store them in too. That way you can put them in order of year and mintmark.

Are you saving for each mintmark made for circulation?
