Carinus---Virtvs-Avggg

Carinus AE Antoninianus. IMP C M AVR CARINVS NOB C, radiate cuirassed bust right / VIRTVS AV-GGG, Carinus standing right, holding scepter, receiving globe from Jupiter (or Carus) standing left, holding scepter; star above, gamma between, XXI in ex. RIC V-2 208

Antoninianus, 3.7g, 20.64mm

I am somewhat uncertain about this attribution. I'd appreciate if someone could check my work. For one, there seems to be no indication in RIC V-2, that there is a break in AV-GGG.

This is the second coin in the Carus family set. I was told that all three of these coins are from Antioch. This particular attribution says Siscia. It's hard to tell when they have XXI in exergue.

Eddop is the expert on Carus and family coins. Nice coin, I'm working on putting together a small collection of Carus and family coins together.

I have three out of the five coins from the Carus family. One of them is expensive, the other prohibitively expensive for me. Magnia Urbica and Nigrinian.
