Pretty much: what it says on the label. My budget is super-limited this week, so I was thinking of asking for $10 in pennies. Is there anything particular I should say to the teller, a time that's better to go (obviously probably when they're not busy, but--early in the day, late in the day, etc.), that kind of thing? My coin-roll hunting up to now has been limited to refilling our coin-changer at work, which my coworkers are kind enough to usually leave to me so I can hunt.

I'd like to go when I head out erranding today, just for the record.

Pennies are easy. Just ask for 10 dollars in pennies, and rather not the new design...say its ugly or something.

Find #1: if you're not getting a full box, take a bag. 20 rolls of pennies are a lot harder to pick up than 10 rolls of pennies.

this much we know..lol..

larger amounts of DIMES are where its at. 250 in dimes is lighter than $25 in pennies lol

I WISH I could afford $250 in dimes, but that's almost all of my weekly paycheque! I kind of feel like I should do $25 pennies every week, then put the dregs aside and after a couple of months cash in the pennies for a box of--no, no, way too many pennies. Trade the pennies for cash, then trade the cash for dimes. That doesn't look suspicious or anything!

Oh, sidenote, I got a very nice clerk. He sounded kind of puzzled when I asked for old rolls so I just told him outright "I'm a collector" and he brightened up and went "oh, so you don't want brand-new rolls. That's easy." I don't know if he's also a collector or if there's another very nice collector in the area that my branch is already familiar with or what, but I thought I'd mention it.

Honesty is such a lonely word.
Everyone is so untrue.
Honesty is hardly ever heard.
And mostly what I need from you

That is one of my favourite songs, oih8, but what are we saying here? *headscratch*

In other news, I have finished! The results:

20 rolls of pennies

x4 badly mutilated coins
x1 2009 Lincoln in front of building
x2 2009 log cabin
x1 2009 Lincoln on log
x1 1950s
x2 1958d, one chewed
x1 1985d in really nice condition

and if the definition of "BU" is "you can see your face reflected back in it," I have ten of those in 2012-D.

Being "honest" with the tellers and they will usually help you out.

I don't care for the Beyonce cover of the song though.

Ohhh, gotcha. (And sorry Beyonce but Billy Joel you are not, get away from my boy thank you) Yeah, I figured the easiest thing was just to be honest--why make up a story? It's not illegal.

Also after seeing everybody's laments about finding other folks' searched rolls, I thought of a great way to dispose of mine--I'll use them when I get gas tomorrow. They'll get broken up and dispersed in change!

ordering ahead is also an ease so the tellers don't have to scramble for rolls at the bank if they are busy or something. Thats what I do lately.

Great idea, pennycollecter! I get paid again tonight, so I might just do that tomorrow before I head in.

I have found that if you go to your bank and ask for rolls or bags just tell the teller you are a coin collector, sometimes they have other coins set aside that they may offer you, plus if you have a good relationship there they may set aside coins for you...good luck !!
