I have actually been bitten by a 'Funnel Web' spider, and had to be taken to hospital.
I used live in the northern suburbs of Sydney in an area where
ARTRAX ROBUSTUS
is common.
That is another story, which ain't so funny......

Despite this particular experience, I am still an arachnophile.

You may wish to Google this particular Latin name for it.

Yes, I can see that. That Funnel Web spider sounds like a nasty customer.

I looked this critter up on Wikipedia and the article there also has a picture of one of these spiders in its "threat pose". It has reared up on its 4 back legs and is displaying its raised fangs. I have seen tarantulas in the southern US do exactly the same thing when disturbed.
