Extra Long Die Crack? - Coin Community Forum

chzman Pillar of the Community United States 1137 Posts	Posted 04/21/2012 1:44 pm I was told that the State Quarter errors are fairly common, could someone please tell me if this is a Cud as a result from a die crack? I have never seen any crack or Cud of this size. I know that the pic quality is not great but I am working on investing in a better camera. Thank you all for your time! pyrbob Rest in Peace United States 1943 Posts	Posted 04/21/2012 2:48 pm First it wouldn't be a Cud because Cuds are a special type of die break that always affects the rim of the coin. They are not called Cuds when they are in the middle of the coin. It is hard to tell without sharper photos but I think what you have is PMD from a cut on the coin. The cut pushed up metal on one side of it. Report this Post to the Staff
