Totally unrelated to my other thread about getting an envelope full of Ikes at the bank, I just got the following in the mail today:

My-New-Ike!
My-New-Ike!
My-New-Ike!

I happened to see it for sale at APMEX while browsing around the site last week and they only had one in stock. Bit of an impulse buy on my part (I'm always a sucker for "Only One Left!"), and I'm sure I paid too much for it (around $130 when you include the shipping fee), but I've been looking for one of these for awhile and I generally trust APMEX to deliver what they promised.

It was actually advertised as being BU, which I tend to doubt given all the scratches, but at least its a nice clear example of the Type II.

You propably already know this but, the 1972 (P) Ike with the type II reverse is hard to find. As of today, 4-26-12 Numismedia lists its MS60 price as $74.75 and the MS63 as $102. The Ike Group has these photos of the three reverse types on the '72 dollars.

More information is also at Supercoin, another Ike Group page and at NGS

No problem, sometimes people do not see them elsewhere. Always good to share what you know.

Nice pickup! It may be BU but just probably not a very high uncirculated grade because of the marks.
