I'd appreciate a little advice from the gurus here.

I've got a 64 silver no dot dollar that looks like somebody spilled ink across the obverse, and the ink dyed the silver. Can anybody think of a way other than dipping to remove it?

Dyes are organic based. Pigments are inorganic based. Could be black silver sulphide. I have a sterling silver rupee with impossible to remove sulphide stains. If it is ink, try acetone. Some dyes are water soluble, a simple soak in distilled water may do the trick.

Thanks sel. I'll give both a try.
