I an an American, and regualry get boxes of cents to look through, and I always get a Canadian penny or two. My question to you Canadian cent hunters is do you ever find US cents in your rolls like I find Canadian cents in mine?

Thanks

All the time. Usually, I get 3-6 U.S. cents in a roll. I even get a lot of wheats. With the other denominations, it's usually one or two U.S. coins.

Beside a boarder town here in southern Ontario I would say there is 30% American pennies. When we visit (shop), no stores want Canadian cents. I once found a 1884 in Veryfine condition. Score.

Being around this site for about a year...seems that there is an unusual number of choice wheat finds in Canada....far more that you would ever expect...and higher than what we see here in the states especially pre WWII dates

I would guess that, like with most americans, to most canadians a Wheat penny is just another american penny and isn't worth a second look.

I've got a bunch of USD coins I've been accumulating in separate rolls from CRH...once they build up, I'm planning on reopening those USD rolls to "CRH" them by taking a better look for dates, varieties etc.

I find the closer you get to the boarder, the more USD coins you find..which makes intuitive sense

When I lived in Michigan and visited Canada, I'd get a fair number of US cents in change, and they tended to be older than the ones I got back home. Lots of wheats, I recall getting a steel cent at a Canadian McDonalds. Likewise, Canadian cents were common in change in Michigan, and they tended to be older ones. My brother collected them and had most of a set, minus the keys, back into the 20s.

We were going through our old coin stuff recently, and I was surprised how many old Canadian nickels and dimes he had too; there was a whole pile of George V dimes.

Not only Lincolns, but I've heard of wheats and even Indians being found in Canada.

When I sort through the penny boxes that I get, there are always quite a few American pennies. I would say anywhere from 8-15% on average. I do also get a decent amount of wheat cents, probably around 6-8 a box. Never found an Indian Head though, unfortunately.

Here in the Maritimes, I find a lot of American pennies, maybe 10-15% of the pennies I search on average. Unusually common to find Wheat pennies, I found a total of 4 in just 10 rolls earlier this week...
