I'd would only pay that price if you need to fill a hole really fast. The dates often don't really change the price that much on old goldmarks/papiermarks. If you wait long enough, there's bound to be a 1906 listing with a start price of 99c or so.
The date is quite rare, but the market for these don't seem to be very liquid since some collectors (speaking for myself) just get the cheaper 1910 type and use it as a good-enough filler.
If you're interested, my Krause shows the 1906 note, 7 digit serial as P25. VG 100 VF 200 UNC 400 but old marks rarely reach that price.
