During a roll hunt I came accross a dime that looks to be a RCM error (possibly PMD?). I am fairly new to numismatics and no very little about errors and how they are made. I hope that someone with more knowledge will chime in and tell me what I have found.

I will start by saying that I don't see any marks on the coin that would indicate that it has been in a vice or pliers which I think would be needed if this was chiseled PMD. Also the rim is still intact, which further leads me to beleive that this is not PMD.

Any insight would be great.

Looks legit, pure nickel coins sometimes were affected by lamination peels (or delaminations as some call it) looks like a little flake came off that coin, after the strike (I think you can see elements of the denticles at the edge of the pit).

Thanks. I thought that it was legit. Is this something error collectors would want? or is this too minor to be of interest?

Either way, I am happy with my first error find! I also found 6 silvers in the same box. 1939, 1942, 1944, 1965, 1968 as well as a 1955 US.

Could be a Struck Through Grease? What does the other side look like? Looks big enough to be collectable to me.

Hi middross

Some collectors do collect coins with planchet chips, especially one with as big a chip as yours. Value would be a few dollars I'd guess, depending on who wants it at the time. You see them around on just about all denominations (except the penny, although sometimes pennies can have tiny chips). Nice find!
