Maximianus AE Post-Reform Radiate Fraction. 296-297 AD. IMP C M A MAXIMIANVS P F AVG, radiate, draped & cuirassed bust right / CONCORDIA MI-LITVM, emperor standing right in military dress, short sceptre in left hand, receiving Victory on globe from Jupiter standing left, holding sceptre; ALE in ex. RIC Alexandria 46b

I cannot tell what the offina mark is between Maximianus and Jupiter. What does it look like in hand? It's the mark below victory in the middle.

I'm sorry Gil...I don't know what a offina mark is? where do I need to look? Above the line which the figures are stood on there is a shape....like a round bell I think? but my eyesight is poor even at 39 years old.

Here is a image. I have the mark circled on the reverse so you can see it. That's a officina mark.

Here is how it works. The mintmark is under a line and it's called exergue. The mintmark in this case is ALE for Alexandria.

So, for a given Roman mint, there were many workshops inside of that place. For each workshop, a mark was used to signify that workshop which is called a officina. Usually, Greek letters were used such as alpha, beta, gamma, delta, etc. Sometimes Roman numerals are used.

Yes, JW. I came up with the same up above. Only that I removed the officina mark attribution part until she told me what it could be, perhaps.
