Here is a 1927 Standing Liberty quarter I. Unfortunately, it has a couple of scratches across the obverse. The lines you see on the reverse are planchet striations. I am getting ready to send it and a few others to NGC and thought I would post them here, to see what you thought.

I'll be interested in hearing what NGC says about it. Is the graininess just in the picture or is it on the surface?

The graininess is in the photo. I was limited to 90kb in the forum but I have a nice 300+kb photo stashed on my hard drive. I haven't built up enough posts yet to get any gallery space in here. The lines across the Reverse from 11 o'clock to 5 o'clock are the planchet striations I was talking about.

Drop me the image in email - I'll post it for you. Just send it fullsize - if it's over 800px I'll resize it. wippedATgmail.com
