Well mates. I did it. I went in the bank yesterday and got me $500 in $1 coins. I had originally planned to do 50c but the thread on mules got me excited. The teller was friendly enough and even more so after I returned to tell her she actually gave me $800 ($500 of $2 mixed in with the $300 of $1). Anyway, she looked at me a bit slyly and asked a few questions of my intentions. Immediately I sussed her out for a ringer and asked her if she had set aside anything interesting. She has drawer full of 3 pence, 6 pence, and 50c rounds. She even told me of the US modern commems she is collecting and the books she has to check. Now I'm thinking I've got to find another branch because nothing seems to get by this teller. Noodlin' didn't return much but fun for the first time in Ozland. Cheers.

I told her she could give me lessons since I'm fresh off the boat and new to Oz coins. She swears a few 20c wavys have slipped through her hands because she was too busy to check it properly. The whole time I'm just shaking my head thinking to myself that I'll never be able to noodle here again. Hahahaha.

Dibby, she's very cute. I didn't notice a ring but then again I was checking out her stash of coins.

If there's no bullion on her finger, there should be because she sounds like gold.

JamieSpat, Maybe you found a competitor, or maybe you found someone who you can share your hobby with? Someone who likes coin collecting might well be understanding and help you out when you ask for coins.

Ozcoins, a bit of both I guess. She did give me some good info. Since they have the coin machine, they send the bags off every 10 days so I don't have to worry about where I dump them (something I had to worry about in the US). Also, I am definitely the only one noodlin' at that branch that she has seen and she's been there a long time. I saw she had a few State Quarters series from the US in her stash so I'll give a few of I've got lying around. All in all it was interesting for my first noodle in Oz.

biggfred, nah. I just grabbed something real quick to put on. I'm from the land of Jack Daniel's whiskey originally. Spent some time on the west coast then moved to SE Asia and just last year ended up on this huge slab of rock. I keep telling myself if I keep going west, I will end up where I started. Hahahaha
