i found this token outside an 1800s house in southern Utah and its identical on both sided... any ideas

Looks like a trade token to me. It will be hard to identify where it came from if it doesn't have any other marks then just $2.50 with stars around. It would also be hard to verify what time period it came from since they have made tokens like this from the 1800's and up. Hopefully someone else will chime in if they have seen an identical one.
