This gouge, although you can't see it all clearly because of the poor lighting, is running from one side of the coin, under the memorial building and into the letters at the top of the coin.

It is probably from a feeder finger.

Hmm , I've seen some like this , and a few people thought it maybe a Planchet issue .. others like Pyrbob here thought it could have had an issue with the feeder ..

either way its interesting piece , most likely not worth a premium but something I would put in with my minor die cracks and gas bubbled coins ...

i have one going through a LMC . it goes through lincolns head.. I call it the lincoln assasination cent

I've seen lines like that on quite a few Memorial cents, and I can't always tell if it's a zinc plating issue or feeder finger die damage. I haven't seen any on copper cents yet though, so that's some indication. On the other hand, I do have some nickels with feeder-finger die damage.
