Well while I know not a coin it is a PM. Does anyone know where to purchase at reasonable prices? I decided to get silver spoons for my grand children due to both value and health reasons. Anyone that can direct me very much appreciated!

Funny, but depending on your situation, if you don't want the spoon to be an "investment" I personally wouldn't mind a plated spoon. I would imagine that the silver plate would still provide the health benifits without the cost and risk of the high-dollar spoon getting lost.

Does anyone have any information on the health value of silver being used in eating utensils? How about the health value of using silver in our coinage? hehehehe Maybe that's why the younger, modern generation isn't as resiliant?

A spoon is only worth $25-$50 in silver depending on the weight.

Harrison back in the day they used to put a silver dollar in water containers. Read up on it. Spoons helped kill bacteria as well

I have read about the dollar in a water barrel....but would like to see something a bit more up to date...accounts from 200 years ago doesn't quite do it for me. ;)

From what I remember, the Tiffany spoons have a melt value around that dollar mark. But baby spoons in general demand a premium and I think the Tiffany's that I was looking at a few months ago went for $60-90 because of the name.

When silver is present, bacteria can no longer produce an within a couple of days all bacteria is dead....

Perhaps this is why silver has so many applications in the medical field....

Yes and actually copper as well but I believe silver is more efficient. I think cOpper pipes at least for water coming in may be better than the plastic being used today
