Hi, I have recently inherited a number of coins and medals from my grandfather (not sure where he got them from yet). I have been trawling the net and identified most but some are still a mystery - I am wondering if anyone can help.

This the reverse side says "DEN FREIHEITSKEMPFERN DES JAHRES 1948 DIE OESTERREICHISCHE SUCIALDEMOKRATIE 1998"

I think this one may be Masonic related

Again I jumped to the conclusion that it was in some way mason related however the "order of the sons of temperance" appears to be an anti drinking movement.

This one I was able to find some information on (http://www.britishmuseum.org/resear...numpages=10) However is specifically says it should be a bronze medal. The reverse shows a Battleship and reads SURRENDERED TO H.B.M.S. BELLEROPHON CAPTT. MAITLAND.XV JULY
MDCCCXV.

This I am having a lot of difficulty with as all searches come back in German!

Any help with these would be much appreciated!

Thanks

Interesting medals, I believe the first one is from Austria an commemorates the 10th anniversary of a Social Democratic uprising that occurred in 1838. I don't have any info on the rest. The Queen Victoria is my favorite.

Second and third both commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Victoria (50 years of reign, acceded June 20, 1837) which was celebrated in 1887. The second medal acknowledges the next-in-line, prince of Wales Albert Edward, future Edward VII.

Edit: The three feathers through the crown design is the coat of arms of prince of Wales.

Hi thankyou very much. I just found the Victoria/Albert one has been for sale in SA. Here what was said "Up for auction is a silver and enamel Masonic medal issued to the household staff. Issued 21 June 1887 for Albert Edward Prince of Wales C.M"

The top one is Austrian but can't tell you any more than that.
