Just bought a nice 1955 Canadian Dime for .25 cents (USD) and 3 1954 Canadian 1 Dollar bills and a 1954 Canadian 5 Dollar bill for only 2 USD...seemed like a pretty good deal.

Dan Gosling, editor of the journal found the set and in a phone call asked me if I had a friend with one what I would offer for it. I thought he was buying from a friend and was wondering what a fair price would be. I said $500 is probably fair. He said..."Sold". Then he said he was the one with the set. I think it is a price we can both live with. $19000 plus fees is only realistic if the population doesn't increase for 5 year or more from todays numbers. I thought about it many times over the days following, a coin sale like this could jeopardize a friendship. We both know the risks. All good.

World Silver...
You made out VERY good... you just bought 8.10 CAD for the equivalent of 2.25 USD...
Even on the exchange you did phenominal...
the dime is silver so it's right now worth about $1 (and that's USD!)
The banknotes well it would depend on condition but worst case scenario you would even get face value for them... so you made off like a bandit...
Where ever you got this from... go back frequently and often buying all the CAD you can at this rate of exchange ...You will do well!

Sweet! Thanks Ag!
I didn't even consider the Canadian monetary value. Looks like I have another trip to visit the antique shop...

Nice, I had one very similar to that a few years ago. Think I paid around $30 as well.
I'll look for some pictures.
