Since I started roll hunting a couple of weeks ago, I've been through 3 boxes of pennies (7500). I generally pick out all the Lincoln cents, as well as any George VI or Elizabeth laureate busts I find, and any years with varieties that I want to examine (e.g. 1985 hoping for Pt 5).

This last box was a treat - not only did I start by finding my first 2006 P (magnetic), but I found 5 George VI pennies, 6 wheat cents, a Barbados penny, both 1953 SF and NSF pennies - and the kicker, a 1942 Newfoundland penny!

Great finds! I happened to find a 1942 Newfoundland penny about 4 weeks ago as well.

Went through boxes 6 and 7 of pennies in the last couple of days - it was A Tale of Two Boxes. Both were brought in from RBC locations other my local one, since they had to order more when they ran out. One was rolled by a machine, the other by hand. In the box rolled by hand, each roll looked identical: all face up, with the same brand of roller and a new BU penny on the end. Had a bad feeling...

0 George VI
0 US Wheaties
6 Laureate ('61-'64)
2 1967

Clearly someone had been through it :/ The machine-rolled box was more like what I see around here:

6 George VI ('40-'52)
8 US Wheaties ('42-'57)
25 Laureate ('54-'64)
12 1967
2 Bermuda 1 cent

It was the best of times; it was the worst of times.

I've seen easily five hundred 2007 pennies since I started CRH (52,500 pennies). Charlton 2012 says the mintages are about 900,000,000 for CPS and 9,000,000 for CPZ that year. Statistically speaking, that means I should have found maybe 3-7 non-magnetic by now, but I haven't found one. Hopefully the law of averages will kick in soon!

Im sry guys but I have to ask. Why should I be looking for 2007's? I have already returned many without a second glance.

Neither variety is rare; but the 2007 magnetic penny is 100 times more common than the non-magnetic penny. I'm just very surprised that I haven't found one of the non-magnetic ones, considering how many I've searched! Any just to be clear, these are Canadian 2007 pennies I'm speaking of.
