poppycoke2010. Good luck with the weighting of the coin. I hope it is a genuine fault. Recently my noodling has not been so lucky. I think I have hit a "dry" patch . One thing that I have noticed is a lot of 1981 20 cent coins that appear deeply struck - with a projecting rim. Maybe a lot of these ended up in somebody's dirty laundry, and came out as "washing machine jobs" Anyway, hope to have a lucky find to report for my 100 post on this forum Squire

Brockage hmm does anyone know what a coin like this would be worth... I have done some googling but have found nothing similar! I am thinking this is a 1968 2 cent piece as it is in an album with 6 x 1968 2 cent pieces Cheer's

I agree with markn, could well be a late stage brockage. I have a couple threepences that share a similar look (as far as smooth looking) with slight detail still present. Some people may call it oil filled die, but it's definitely not. Have a look at a couple of pictures in the Threepence error post, it's about two-thirds (2/3) down the page: https://goccf.com/t/116362&whichpage=3I'm loving it. You can just see the silhouette of the queens portrait. With some very light underlying points of the frill necked lizard. Any chance put up a bigger shot of the brockage style.

I don't think there's much doubt that it's a late state brockage. Below I've highlighted some features on the error coin and matched them with the mirror image of a reverse of a 2c. The evidence is reasonably conclusive. Great error coin and well done hanging onto it for so long.

poppy- Errors are their own market, and I don't think they've caught on in OZ as in the US. Try generic searches on ebay, like brockage australian coin.

I'd pay up to $200-$300 for it. It's very late state and there's not much of the design present. Early state brockages on copper coins usually fetch $500-$1000+

I suggested a little more than Markn. I think confirming patterns in the design makes it more valuable than just a reverse smooge. The brockage man goatie would know.

Perhaps the market has moved upwards a bit more than I'd realised in the last year or so :)
