Can you add a picture? No one can value or grade it if they don't know what they are looking at

Sounds like Sally might be referring to a $1/10c mule. Here is hoping that it is. Sally - that would be really good!

Yes, sally sounds like your talking about the $1/10c variety which could range from $400-$15000 depending on grade.

Hi Sally and to Coin Community Forum. It sounds like you are referring to a $1 / 10 mule. This type of coin was produced in error when an incorrect 10 cent die was used to produce a $1 coin. The number of these error coins produced varies depending upon who you ask, but there is a topic here on CCF that gives various figures, from memory, ranging from 400 through to several thousand. It is impossible to give you a value for your coin as you haven't posted a photo, so but my reference book, Aust. Coins and Banknotes, 19th edition by Greg McDonald, states that dependent upon the condition of the coin, value ranges from $350 up to $6000 for an uncirculated coin. To get a rough approximation of what mules are worth you could check out e-bay which would assist you in determining what your coin is worth. In my opinion, unless you need money quickly, put it away for a rainy day as they will some day be worth a small fortune. Hope this helps.

Deano, I'd say somewhere around $15k if unc, maybe in wrong? I do not think any in unc grade have been auctioned so it's hard to estimate.

Certainly isn't what I would consider "Uncirculated" at all, but I suspect my standards are somewhat different to those used by PCGS.
However, no doubt one of the best mules around, and very nice full central strike on the obverse.

Sally_Coin: Welcome to the CCF!
I thought for a bit that it was my sister who had joined up! My sister has been into Australian decimals since about 1985. I notice however, that you come from the other side of the Country, near where a brother of mine lives, perhaps near Kalamunda.
We would love to see some pictures of the coin you have.

It's hard to tell the condition from the photo, but definitely appears to be the mule, although not a complete fully centred strike.
I think you'd be looking at around $400 for starters, and possibly more if it's in better condition. If you've got higher resolution pix of both sides, that would help us to grade it a bit better.
