Is the 1926 one of the years that are known for weak strike.
I recently scored a 26 described as just touched off UNC,it is very lustrous but it is very wweak on the obverse especially in the effigy, on the reverse the star is terrible compared to a 27 I bought from the same seller, they were both describe as just touched off UNC.

Sometimes the apparent weak strike is the result of the master die in need of replacement. That seems to be case here.
I am not specialist enough in Australian coins, more into ancients, can't tell you which dates for the threepence are weakly struck.

I do know that the reverse master dies were replaced after striking the '58 florins, the '59 strikings are much sharper.

They all can, except maybe 1938, 1953 and 1954.

I have found that the obverse of the '42 plain is always weakly struck. Pity.

I have found that the obverse on the 3d coins are not as detailed as the other silver pre decimal coins whatever the year.
Maybe because they are such a small coin, I really don't know why but they are soo hard to get with a perfect obverse.

The 26 & after looking closely at the pics could only be EF at best, mind you it might be my photography skills or lack of,both coins have nice lustrous surfaces but the 26 has had slightly more circulation.

Threepence,-Which-Years-Have-Weak-Strikes-?

Nice radial die crack through R in REX

& the 27

Threepence,-Which-Years-Have-Weak-Strikes-?

another nice radial die crack through G to Kings nose

both coins have a light die crack all the way round the reverse, can't see most of it in the pics.

They're both softly struck up.
