Very nice jessvc1, here are some of my London coins: Diocletian RIC VI London 28a (p125) 28mm 7.45g, Diocletian RIC VI London 28a (p125) 30mm 9.45g, Galerius RIC VI London 15 (p124) 27mm 9.70g.I know the exact find spot for the last coin above, pretty cool, it was just outside the walls of a Roman fort in York and I cleaned it myself  This is my Licinius coin, its in bad shape and is only 22mm and 3.74 grams, quite a difference from the above. It was minted in Rome, the only other mint Licinius had at his disposal was Alexandria but all of those coins are rare, R3s, 4s and 5s. IMP LICINIVS PF AVG - GENIO POPV-LI ROMANI - RQ - Rome 312-313AD, rated common.Despite it being rated common I haven't seen many of them around, no examples on Wildwinds and I just looked and cant see any for sale on Vcoins or ebay. I found a few Constantines but no examples of Licinius

Nice cleaning job in that galerius. That's really neat how you can trace it to the spot where it was laying in the ground for over a THOUSAND years! Your licinius is much better than mine. I'm silently copying Steve and Doug but I don't have 30 or even 25 coins of this type so feel free to add your coins and all the neat info you can share maybe we can get a few others interested in this series.

Nice coins guys! I only have two London coins: Crispus  Helena  Am constantly on the lookout for more London mint coins that I can get for decent prices. |

Here is another large follis of Constantius I Chlorus.  Constantius I. AE Follis. 303-305 AD. CONSTANTIVS NOB C, laureate, cuirassed bust left / GENIO POP-VLI ROMANI, Genius standing left by altar, modius on head, naked except for chlamys over left shoulder, holding patera and cornucopiae. Star in right field. Mintmark PLG. RIC VI Lyons 180a. |

The only Licinius I that I own. It was in batch of uncleans I used the rochelle on. The reverse had been covered with with red coating that is like epoxy to take off and I was afraid to remove anymore without fearing removing the patina as well. I have it attributed to the Cyzicus mint. 21mm, 2.71 grams. AE Follis IMP LICI NIVS AVG, laureate bust left, draped, with mappa, orb and scepter. IOVI CONS ERVATORI AVGG. Jupiter standing left with Victory on globe and scepter, wreath left, SMK in ex. RIC VII 9 317-320 AD. Not a beauty, but it is mine!   |

Some coins might not be in the best shape(I have many of these) but they are still coins and it's fun to try to attribute them also sometimes they may be the only example of that type or emperor. I will be posting some metal detector finds of this type that aren't in most peoples standards as a collectible coin. Hey we all like coins and I'm sure we all have a few.

I love the fact that you know exactly where the coin was found at the old Roman fort Jessvc1! How special is that! I wish there was somewhere around here that we could do the same (metal detecting for ancient coins). Awesome.
