That is a nice large follis with nice details. I don't have a Diocletian coin yet.

Thanks! There is a silver look to this coin that isn't coming out in these pictures I took with my phone.

Nice coin, I can still see some silvering. I believe this is RIC VI 12a Heraclea. The mint mark is H gamma.

jessvc1: The silver aspect of the coin can be enhanced with the correct color balance of the lighting. Try using an LED torch with a high blue component in the light it shines with. All it needs is an asistant to hold it at the right angle and distance to avoid glare.

Nice coins guys. These are pretty much my favourite coins at the minute, I like the size and weight and there are lots of different emperors, bust styles and mints to collect. Over 4000 varients I believe If I remember rightly they were made for: Constantine Constantius Diocletian Domitius Domitianus Galerius Licinius Maximian Maximinus II Severus II - A couple of rare Severus and Maximinus versions are also known. I'm still missing a Constantine and the rare Domitius but have the rest including what seemed to be a quite hard to find Licinius, its not in great shape and the size of the coins reduced considerably when it got to about 312/314AD when he was minting them. These are probably my favourites: Ignore coin 5 - its a different seriesThis thread may also interest those with a liking for these coins: https://goccf.com/t/100028&whichpage=2

I remember reading that thread and it's one of the reasons why I started collecting these large coins. Oh yeah I forgot to add the attribution info.
