Hello everyone,

Recently, I have become interested in 1 ounce silver bars, more specific, silver art bars. In the last month I purchased 6 silver 1 ounce art bars, 5 silver 1 ounce bullion bars, and 1 10 ounce silver bullion bar.

I realize companies such as the Madison Mint, Hamiltion Mint, and others produced a wide variety of silver art bars in the 1970's.

I am looking for a good book about these bars. One of the most important part of any good book is one that has pictures, preferably full color images. I would also like a book that has a brief description and mintages. I don't need one that has prices since 1 ounce bars are usually around the spot price of silver.

The book doesn't have to be current, just complete. Any help from fellow 1 ounce silver bar collectors is greatly appreciated.

Thank You,

Christopher

Amaths,

Thanks for that link, now that I looked at it, I wish I didn't sell some of my silver bars by Hamilton Mint in those early years. I have to down size what I wanted to collect most, this hobby is down right expensive. LOL...

Thanks for the information. I checked out the website and the book on Amazon. I also did a search and found a book by Ken Potter. I think there are 2 volumes and each is priced around $50.

The major price guide to silver bars was published in 1991. Due to low sales, the available books are extremely rare and expensive. I tried to buy one a few years ago but couldn't justify paying $180, deciding it would be better spent on silver. ;)

Traevin, I noticed the same high prices. The lowest price I found on the internet was $115.00 and the book looked like it was used quite often.

Silverhawk, I haven't seen any examples of that series, so it must be pretty rare. I usually see bars depicting the Wonders of America. I have one of the Lincoln Memorial to go along with my Lincoln Silver Art Bar collection.
