Excellent collection! Any idea when the fractional gold bars were minted? If I can figure out the rough mintage then I would know better about their collectable value. Is JM still producing those?

Amaths,

Fractional gold in bar form was minted any where from the late 70's to late 90's. It all Depends on the serial number and prefix. It the bar has no logos on the back it doesn't matter what it is Gold, silver, plat, etc. it is older and I'd grab it. As for JM they have switched more to industrial producing. Even the newest 1oz JM bars are actually minted by the sunshine mint.

I noticed your from Canada also, so JM, Engelhard bars are more available than what our US friends can get.

Nice! I love JM bars. I just picked up my first three a few weeks ago. I am planning on adding a few more later this week. The fact that they are serial numbered is more appealing to me than not having a serial number. Thanks for posting your collection, I am jealous.

Thanks for the information, swrbxxx. I do see 1 oz silver JM bars from time to time and am learning the history behind them. Awareness of the mint date and mintage would definitely help me justify paying the premium. Hopefully one day I would be able to present my humble collection proudly. :)
