jade = neither gold, silver, copper, platinum, palladium, ... i.e. not a precious metal (or a metal at all). Nor was jade ever used in coinage (though I very vaguely remember that jade was loosely used in trade in ancient China once upon a time).

So, perhaps the Precious Metals subforum on the Coin community site is not the best place to ask?

Jade is a pretty involved topic on it's own. Just like numismatics! I own a couple of exquisite jade pieces and it took quite a bit of reading and research to truly appreciate what I had. As for assessing the value of new jade? Wow. No idea. Also, unlike coins created by government mints, there's no uniformity of quality to help the novice collector easily grasp what to look for and what to avoid. Someone here may be able to help, but I think it might be best to also share your question with some of the good jewelry forms on the Internet. Good luck!
