Recently I have really been considering buying a 1kg silver bar.

Right now my stack is around 18-20oz, so this would be a major purchase for me.

Does anyone have any experience buying such a large bar? I am not sure if would I would buy it online (From a reputable business, not ebay) or go to a large coin show and buy one if they are available.

That is a very nice bar, I didn't even think of First Majestic.

I was looking at this earlier, but the premium is just too much.

OPM at Provident, hard to beat this price even though they are not as nice as the First Majestic bar I posted above. Of course shipping from First Majestic is from Canada, an about 45 bucks to me in the US, an Provident shipping would be much less, say 12.95 perhaps....

OPM is the green silver bars, via recycle city....

Of course you are in Canada, I would seriously consider their bar, via shipping low to you up there. And that J@M bar is real nice, but WAY to high IMO....

I owned that FM bar once, it is about the size of a bar of soap. An just ask TBK about how bad it would hurt if you were to drop it on your foot, lol...

Interesting to note Silvertowne does not deal I kilo bars, and gold-mart has one type 2.99 over spot per oz., but they are out. Does not leave much else short of APMEX....

I personally love kilo bars. anytime you can deal in kilos, and it be totally LEGIT, its a good thing rof....

it is a very good price, but I have never heard of OPM before, and would want to stick to a well known company.

Actually, I am seriously considering a 1 kg Pt bar. (bit amaller)

$18 / oz. above spot premium.

May also consider out of house storage costs with the bullion dealer. They offer that service.

I will definitely look into that, I love the look of pamp suisse bars.

Hopefully the premium isn't astronomical.

At $1857 bucks for 32.15 at Provident, or $57.76 per oz., plus shipping I would consider that pretty darn astronomical, but perhaps as mentioned you can find it at their site for way less.....

You could get two OPM barz for that kind of chez.....

I checked the Pamp Suisse site, and they have no prices. They only link to Authorized dealers. And of course I couldn't find any silver bars for the dealer in North America

I just bought some 10oz Pamp Suisse bars from overseas. Hoping to make a few bucks selling those in North America to fund a 500g or 1kg Pamp Suisse bar for keeps.

You might also be interested in 1kg Perth Mint bars (though I think they are quite ugly) or Scottsdale bars (really nice looking). The Scottsdale bar can be purchased directly from their website (~$960 USD before shipping)

The only Canadian dealer I know of from the top of me head that sells 1kg bars only carry Ohio Precious Metals bars (again quite ugly in my opinion). The price as of tonight for those is just under $990 CAD before shipping.

PM me if you need direct links

The First Majestic Mayan set is a real beauty, but I have my eye on a pour, and I think it's every coin collector's dream to own a metal brick of some kind, be it silver or gold. I rather have 50 oz. of silver than a 1 oz. gold coin.
