This is a longshot folks. I think this coin is hammered copper (alloy), but I have no further idea about its origin. Hopefully the knowledgeable people here can give me a clue as to either its origin or age. All I know for sure is that it has been in my family for at least four generations. The first image shows something that looks to me sort of like the Scottish thistle that appeared on early 1800s Nova Scotian coinage. The diameter of the coin is about 14-15 mm (9/16").
