Ok guys, I've searched and searched and a bit frustrated. So I now come to you. What are the key dates for Canadian silver dimes and quarters. I stack Canadian "junk" silver and I would like to know of any, if any, rare or key dates that gives any numismatic value over its melt value that I can keep watch for. Looking for dates and low balled approximate value. Thank all! Cheers!

SPP has the answer, but if you want to get a general idea narrowing the era would be a lot easier.

You can also troll through http://www.coinsandcanada.com/coins-prices.php . Look for the ones with significantly higher prices.

Just remember a simple rule of thumb to know whether a coin is a Key date or not: "any coin that trends well above the rest at lower grades is a key date"! This formula works every time!

When I do searches for dimes, I am always on the lookout for 1948. It's a low mintage coin that has a value beyond silver melt. You might find a 1956 dot occasionally, it's overlooked - the dot is just below the date. Finally in dimes look for 1934 and 1935 - both dates have low mintages and are always in demand. So those are the dates, now look for coins that look amazing and should not be in the "bullion" containers. Routinely, I would pick out the P/L and MS dimes from the early 60's and late 50's since they should command a premium over melt pricing.
For the balance of the series from 1858 to 1952, I would look for Victorian coins that you can read the date easily and are not so worn that that they are smooth. In Edward years - 1903 and 1905 are both good years to keep.
