If you roll hunt and keep a record (spreadsheet) of what you find, please keep reading!
I am interested in writing a paper for a statistics journal on probabilities of roll finding. I am a part of the nickel searching thread and know there are 3 or 4 people who keep a spreadsheet of their finds per box (50 rolls) searched. If anyone has these data for at least 25 boxes, I think I can compile them in a detailed paper. I'm interested in seeing your data.
let me know what you kind of data you have, the format you have them in, and if you'll share them.
thanks! Edited by robbudo 06/06/2012 8:24 pm

I posted some stats on the nickel thread earlier this afternoon. Did you see them yet? I have more detailed stats in an excel spreadsheet if you would like them. Just shoot me a PM and I can email you the file.

I have compiled data only on the last 550 rolls for the dates 1938 - 1959. I would be happy to share that with you.

I keep meaning to start a spreadsheet and haven't yet.
I just picked up a box of pennies, and some rolls of nickels and dimes. Maybe tonight I will start a spreadsheet with those finds. =)

I have finished 85 boxes and keep a tally of every mint mark and date from 1959 and older. I have it all written on a notepad on my computer. I can email a copy to you if you'd like. just shoot me a pm.

I only collected information on 2 boxes (100 rolls) of pennies from BoA (aka Strings and Sons wrappers). I have it in Excel and would be happy to share it

Due to the responses I've received, I've found that almost everyone who has data has them on nickels. Actually, jdavis18 - you're the only one who responded who has data on anything other than nickels.
SO,
I plan on writing a statistics paper on probability/regression about nickels hunting.
I am looking for data from anyone on at least 15 boxes and need everything found before 1960 kept track of by year and mintmark by box.
I will start analyses now (with the help of those who have already replied I have data on about 150 boxes) but if you can do 15 boxes by the beginning of September, I'll include your results too!
If you want a formatted Excel spreadsheet, just let me know and I'll send that to you.
thanks a bunch

Wow, that sounds like a lot of work you're getting into. Sorry I cant help. I can only tell you that I have done about 28 boxes of dimes, and average 2 per box. Out of all those, only 20% were before 1960 and that only 1 was from 1935 and 3 were in the 40s. This might not be complete data that you are looking for but my overall numbers are really super close to what I've stated. The ones from the 30s and 40s are exact. Thought I would post just in case you could use it. If not, sorry and best of luck. Look forward to seeing your findings in a new thread once you are done. Cheers!

Have you gone through the dimes roll hunting forum and looked at each post? Or is it incomplete data for what you need? I noticed you said mint mark as well so I assume you are trying to break it down on what locations are producing what.
