1879 British Coin With No Denomination

grissom2 New Member United States 5 Posts	Posted 06/08/2012 8:15 pm I have inherited an 1879 British coin depicting young Queen Victoria. The coin appears to be nickel or silver, about 32mm in diameter. The holder says 1/2 Crown, but I can find no denomination on the coin, which has very clear letters and numbers. What is the denomination and what is an approximate range of values depending on condition? Thank you. Report this Post to the Staff

Windchild Pillar of the Community Canada 1411 Posts	Posted 06/08/2012 8:21 pm The denomination is a half-crown. Its from pre-decimal Britian (pre 1971). And also where is the coin as if it is in England, Canada or the US I would love to buy if the price is right. @ trout the denomination is a half crown. Same type of thing as a half-dime.
