i say the obverse is solid AU, but that the reverse pulled it down to XF40.

Yes, I said AU50 but I really don't think your pics gave it justice, with better pictures I'm sure you would see why.

I am surprised but I guess my response is that either your pictures did not show the detail and luster that the coin has to have to be a 58, or ANACS goofed. This is the drawback with trying to grade a coin from a picture alone.

well I purchased on ebay. It has a good return policy so I took a chance on the iffy photos.

AU58? I stand corrected--pictures don't show the whole story.

I am currently waiting for it to arrive so I can see if it is a result of bad photos or an off day by ANACS. Hoping for it just being bad photos.

Post pictures when you get the coin because I'm curious. Don't a lot of people say that ANACS grades higher than the other 2?

Decided to keep it. The photos of the reverse are much worse then the coin is in hand. The obverse is fairly close, but that mark under the chin is exaggerated in the photo. All in all, I would grade this one a 55 or 58 but with a somewhat lower quality strike. I can't really take good photos right now because other then the camera, all my photo equipment is in storage so I have lousy lighting and have trouble stabilizing the camera. Also, my photo software is on my other computer. Will get to it in a couple of weeks I suspect.
