Hi all .. this seems so unfair to me with the change in ebay policy all my items have to have a tracking number .. which means that my minimum postage to the usa for a coin will be £8.35 .. would you pay that for a £5 coin ?

My statement for this month

Percentage of transactions with tracking uploaded within stated dispatch time (1 month)
score needed 90.00%

my score 9.18%

Starting on 20 June, ebay must have tracking information uploaded on at least 90% of all your transactions with US buyers within your stated dispatch time for the period of 1 May to 31 May. The evaluation on 20 July will count transactions from 1 May to 30 June. Every evaluation after that will count transactions over the previous 3 months.

The only thing you can do to justify the shipping cost would be to group coins and sell it at a higher price, and tag that to the shipping cost.

It is not even really worth the effort anymore to sell anything under $20 when shipping costs can make up 10% or more of the total winning bid.

Last month I had over $4000 in ebay sales but becauae a couple of bidders asked me to hold off shipping until some other auctions had finsihed even though they paid at the end of the auction my my score is only in the 70's if you miss the 2 business day deadline it seems no matter the reason you are going to have it count against you. Tracking numbers have caused me just not to list lower value items anymore. I assume thats ebay's intent; never have been and never will be a power seller

dooly for items where shipping would be more than the item itself I would just get rid of international sales on those.

nohope if you really wanted you could always put a tracking number on them and just not ship it if you wanted to try and get the powerseller

For what it's worth, as a buyer I don't give a hoot about ebay's seller designations. All that really matters is the feedback score.

Its not the buyers that it matters to, its the sellers because they get lower fees and other things by being a power seller

I suppose that PayPal (as I understand it, a subsidiary of ebay) is losing too much when claims for non-delivery are made, and tracking is a brake on that.
For me, postage (a.k.a. "Shipping") is a very important factor in determining my maximum bid.
Some American sellers only ask for $2.50 postage to Australia for one coin, others ask for $20 or so.
The E.U. has some big variations also.

thanks all for the comments

yes as a top rated and a power seller you do get a little better deal.

but really to me its all about the lower end collectors and the new collectors who have a smaller budget .. they would also loose out with this.

also the listing fees for listing something at a higher price than .99 start can make a heck of a difference to your bill.

the paypal thing of having to return the money I also think could be the real reason for this

They loose nothing they will only refund if the funds are available in the seller account or can be reclaimed via a linked credit card or bank account. They will not cover a lost item out of their own coffers. Not that I am bitter or twisted about this policy but I have been on the loosing end of it.
