I don't know one way or another about that, Indian, but it's an interesting thought. However Imohtep said that the ink was the same colour as the serial numbers, so it sounds like it was put on at the mint itself. But I'll bet an actual marked bill used in a sting operation would be of interest to a lot of collectors -- just for the sheer novelty of it I wouldn't mind having one myself!

I will be taking the bill to Gatewest Coin and Stamp tomorrow and see what they have to say.

Personally, I don't think it's much more than a slight imperfection. I'd keep it if I found it in circulation but I wouldn't pay a premium for it.

So I took it to Gatewest Coin and Stamp and it turns out it is just an extra droplet of ink that dripped on while printing the serial numbers...it just happened to drop in a very interesting spot. They offered me face value for it, saying they would only sell it for 25 - 30 dollars...so I thought I would give you guys a chance at owning it first since I can't afford to keep it at the moment...unfortunately I will not mail the bill away so you must live in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and be able to meet up with me in person to do the exchange.

I will either...

A) trade the bill for a regular $20 + 1 silver quarter ( Canadian..anything 1967 and under..no 50% 1968s..)
B) trade for $1.50 face value in junk Canadian silver ( quarters preferrably...1966 and under 80% no 67 or 68 )

I figured that it may be a droplet of ink, because it is slighly oval, not round, like a dot would have intentionally been.

Ah well, a spilled dot of ink. At least you have the answer, Imohtep. It's still an interesting bill and I have no doubt someone will buy/trade it from you. Good find!
