some of my 1965 quarter finds:and 1965 dimes seem to be 5/4...does this mean they are silver?

I don't know what you mean by 5/4. Do you mean a 5 over the 4 in the date? That would not be possible with a recent coin, as the date was part of the master hub starting in the early 1900's. If you see the copper core on the edge of the coin, than it is clad, and not silver. There a a very few cases of a silver planchet being struck in 1965, but they are extremely rare.

Paleeasseee...
You have to do something about your avatar.
First time I saw it I thought I was having a stroke.
Now I just get dizzy.

I'm also curious also about what you mean by 5/4
There are some 65 dimes and quarters out there that are
90% silver. As well as some possible 1965/66 90% silver Kenn. half's.
Just look at the edges and see if they look silver and then weigh them.
You may of gotten lucky as they bring a very nice premium. You would need to send it out for a cert./slab anyway though to verify it.
As far as weight the silver dime is 2.5 grams / Clad dime is 2.2/2.3
The silver quarter: 6.3 and the clad: 5.7
The half's are: 12.5 90% and 11.5 on the 40%

i am pretty sure I have a silver dime dated 1965. No copper on the edge and it has that look that silver gets when it needs a polish... I will get it out to take a pic... I found it in my fathers nightstand, when I inhereted his belongings. he was a coin hoarder, not too much a collector unless you count keeping EVERY coin of certain years

Yes, I'm positive. It's only Thursday

On the dime, yes some pics would help. The weight
may or may not help as both clad and silver are very close in weight on the roo's dimes. But if it's an accurate 2.4 to 2.6
that would be in the silver ballpark. Also if you have a pretty good ear for silver, a drop test for the ring tone would work. As far as the 1965/4 I know of no known variety
for that coin.
