Good score on that dime SD. I don't spend cash much more to get change. Everyone wants electronic payments now. I did get a toonie the other day, I was hoping for a 16 serration 2019, but no luck. It was a beat up 2015 McCrae I will spend. Sort of nice getting 1 so close to Remembrance Day.

It's good to see this thread again. Say, where is Dorado? I miss his bottomless gas station adventures. .

I was just thinking the same. He has not been around in a couple of weeks.

Here is an oddity I found on the ground about 40 years ago.

There are 2 quarters holding 6 dimes around the circle. Appears welded.
Quarter is 1963, my birthyear, and the dimes are from 1959 to 1964.
All dimes are head out. It was in the ice on a school playground.
Worth $21.78 in melt value.

That's cool Don. The birth year match up is cool too. It looks like there is a "starfish" type of insert under the quarters positioning the dimes. Do you think it might be silver?

Found these four in two rolls today. The 2002 has a dot in the H, and the 2006 is an obvious counterfeit.

@ cedargrove... I believe that your 2006 Toonie is a fake coin.

@darryl - Thanks, the 2006 is definitely counterfeit. It's the second one I've found in the past week.

It's great to read about all these finds. Is there somewhere I can find a list of modern Canadian circulation coins that are valuable (errors, low mintage, etc.). I've started collecting with my little kids and we'd like to know what might be possible to find in circulation and what we should look out for. I know the chances are low but it's the excitement of the hunt. I've struggled to find a list like this anywhere.

@cedargrove - how do you know your 2006 toonie is a fake? How can you tell fakes? I'm just getting back into coin collecting and find this all very fascinating. Thanks.
