ello,

I have a coin that I got though my job a long time ago. Its a 'State Bank of Seattle' coin, looks to be some kind of coin that you got when you went to open a savings account.

The picture attached is the reverse side that has all the details. The front has a picture of 'Chief Seattle' and says 'State Bank of Seattle'. There is no date on the front or the back of the coin so I am having a tough time trying to find this coin on the net. Can someone help?

Thanks.

I see these bank deposit tokens often and it looks like many banks used them to entice depositors. I can find little info on the State Bank of Seattle. But fifty cents was a fair amount of money and earlier/similar tokens have twenty five cents listed so I suspect this is much later. You said you received the token so would you share when that was?

From Richards Token Database...

STATE BANK OF SEATTLE
Composition: Brass
Shape: Round
Size: 31mm

Description:
WE WILL ACCEPT THIS / ON DEPOSIT / FOR 50 CTS. / IF YOU OPEN A NEW SAVINGS ACCOUNT / OF $5.00 / OR MORE LEAVING IT IN THE / BANK 12 MONTHS AND / PAY 4% COMPOUND / INTEREST ON YOUR / SAVINGS / JANUARY 1ST AND JULY 1ST

Found a great early picture of the bank as well.

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback. I got this coin back in the late 90's probably '98 or '99. I got it as part of a tip when I work on USAF air base funny thing someone also gave me a silver certifcate the same day! Some people dont know what they are giving away! I really struggled to find this on the net anywhere. Cool picture of the bank though.

Thanks,
Vicky
