Is anybody collecting this set, The Smallest Gold Coins of the World Collection? http://www.mint.ca/store/product/pr...=prod1060023http://www.mint.ca/store/product/pr...=prod1060023There are supposed to be 12 coins in the set. I only recently noticed that the display box that the Mint gave me holds 16 coins, not 12. Yeah I know, I am slow sometimes. Does this mean that there are really 16 coins in the set and not 12? If there really is only 12, what should I do with the extra four places? I could always order a gold cougar (my set came with the gold Caribou instead). So that's one. I think the plastic capsule that the Aussie mini-roo coins use are the correct size as well. That's two. example: http://www.talismancoins.com/servle...tail?no=1278Any other ideas?

I thought the China 1/20 oz Gold Panda was small, this is only a 1/3 of the 1/20 oz size and the premium is way to high.
I am afraid to even breath hard if I am holding one of those.

Here is the complete 2011 Smallest Gold Coins of the World Collection. The mint sent me a box that holds 16 coins, but the set only consists of 12. I've been trying to think of what coins to add to fill up the remaining slots. I have found two so far. The one on the bottom left is the 2011 Canada Caribou which is fact part of the 2012 Smallest Gold set. http://www.mint.ca/store/coin/0.5-g...-prod1160003The coin, right next to it is the 2010 Australian Mini-Roo. http://www.talismancoins.com/servlet/CategoriesThe 2010, 2011 and 2012 Mini Roos all share the same capsule size, but the 2010 is the only one that does not come in any type packaging apart from the capsule itself. I am limited to a 100k image as an attachment, so the image will not be super clear.

Does anyone know if there will be a 2012 (dated) Canadian small gold coin?
Very nice looking set. I didn't know that these Canadian gold coins were part of a world collection.

The 2011 cougar came out in October, so I guess the 2012 Beaver? Mongoose? Turkey? will come out in October as well.

In the 1/25oz series (formerly the smallest gold coin in the world prior to the 2011 cougar 0.5g coming out) you've had the Bluenose and the Cariboo Gold Rush 150th anniversary for 2012. Haven't seen a 0.5g one out yet.

So for clarity on these small gold coins ( RCM only), are there four series? Have I missed any? The 1/25 oz are: 2004 1/25 oz Moose 2005 1/25 oz Voyageur 2006 1/25 oz Cowboy 2007 1/25 oz Wolf 2008 1/25 oz DeHavilland Beaver 2009 1/25 oz Red maple leaf 2010 1/25 oz RCMP 2011 1/25 oz Gold coin Geese 2012 1/25 oz Bluenose The 0.5 gram are: 2010 0.5g Caribou 2011 0.5g Cougar And there are the three 2006-2008 1.555g Gold Louis and the four 2011 Boreal Forest/Bison/Orca/Falcon series from last year. I know there has been some discussion about whether the 2012 Cariboo belongs to the 1/25 oz series or not.

Indian gold fanams are interesting, and they MUST have seen some circulation. Cheaper to buy and with some numismatic historic significance as well.
They also bear less marketing and distribution costs.

I do not think that the "2012 150th Anniversary of the Cariboo Gold Rush" is part of the same series. 1) The 1-25th gold series has been released once per year since 2004. There is a 2012 release already, the Bluenose 2) The Cariboo Gold Rush does not say "Fine Gold 1/25 Oz Or Pur" at the bottom on the "tails" side. 3) The style of the image is extremely different than all the other ones. 4) While not shown in the image below, the "front/heads" of the Cariboo Gold Rush coin does not say 50 Cents. 5) The way "Canada" is written on the "tails" side of the Cariboo Gold Rush coin is not consistent with the rest of the series. All that being said, I think I will order one anyways. :)

I tend to agree that the Cariboo is different enough to be considered not part of the 1/25oz series, though both J&M and Colonial Acres include it with the other 1/25oz coins in their on-line listings. http://colonialacres.com/products.php?cat=375

I'm not sure its the most affordable. It's by far the most expensive. 1/25 of an oz for $100 when the price of gold is around $1480. Would cost you $2500 for an oz of gold. Lol
