My sister in laws house was built in the 1930s. I've detected there a few times and cant seem to find any silver coins. Has anybody got any tips or tricks about how I can increase my chances? Thanks.

Usually around homes that age you're going to pick up a lot of false pings. There's a lot of iron and misc. Trash that I find. You can set the discrimator on your machine so it weeds out trash if you have that function. But the best tip I can give you is don't give up. Detecting takes huge amount of patience.

Not every old yard will yield silver. I've hunted plenty, and one out of three may produce. Usually old yards have been previously hit, regardless of what the current homeowner thinks.
