I reported this item as not genuine (it obviously is not), but so far The Bay doesn't see the need to pull it. Maybe if we can get a few more inputs they will see the light. I would hate to see someone go through the hassle of trying to get their money back on it.. Paleoguy http://www.ebay.com/itm/11090507196....m1438.l2649

The listing says it's a "token" and not a dollar coin. I think that's why they won't pull it.

@IGE I agree but obviously there are a lot of folks out there that think they are getting a great deal on the original. There is no indication on the thing that it's not the 1883.

paleoguy, I hear you, but you can't fix stupid. This thing is a piece of junk but the buyer needs to read the description and do some research on a real 1883 Hawaiian Dollar before shelling out a 200+ bucks. Just looking at this one it is obvious it is not real, it also looks like brass and not silver. I'm sure no matter how many people report this one, ebay will not take it down because it is what it is, a token and not a genuine Hawaiian Dollar.

@IGE Guess you're right... Can't fix stoopid or rooky dooh!'s. Looked at the bidder list and all but one have bought less than 20 items on The Bay. This will build character and/or turn them into one! Love to be a fly on the wall when the angry "Where's my refund" messages hit.

A rooky is either someone who really likes to play an old card game or a new kid on the ebay block. I had plenty of "dooh's" early on.

Quote: eBay will not take it down because it is what it is, a token and not a genuine Hawaiian Dollar. But it is still in violation of the Hobby Protection Act. It purports to be an original numismatic item when it in fact is not so it is required to be marked COPY under the law.

Any of you with an ebay account might want to do a formal ask seller a question so that it gets posted with the listing. Question, is this replica marked "copy" anywhere on the token?

Your question only gets posted if the seller chooses to post it.
