this is the second coin I have cleaned. It appears to say Constantine but the markings make it hard to read. The mint mark looks like SIS, maybe Siscia. Any help recognizing this coin would be very appreciated!

The coin is Constantine I and the mint mark is Siscia, but there is something before and after the SIS that I can't make out. So I'm not able to pin down the RIC number for you.

I think this is Constantine II. There is what appears to be a chi rho on the banner. If so, I believe this makes it a Constantine II. Looking at all the possible mintmarks from Siscia, it could be an A, B, Epsilon, Gamma preceeding SIS and it would seam that it should be a crescent following. But in any case, it would be RIC VII 85 for any one of them. All are listed as common.

BTW, good job cleaning this coin.

Agree with JW. The coin is not entirely unlike this example on Wildwinds, though the mintmark isn't clear enough to pin down a precise variety.

Thanks for the help guys.
Eng5858, I bought a batch of "premium" uncleaned coins from the Great American Coin company. I do not know how reputable they are but the batch of ten I bought all seem to be pretty good quality.

jw nailed it I think, in the dirty pic the mint mark really looks like an ASIS, so probably...

Constantine II
CONSTANTI-NVS MAX AVG
GLOR-IA EXERC-ITVS
ASIS
chi-rho on banner
Siscia RIC VIII Siscia 85
337-348 AD

nice job cleaning by the way ceasearsson!
