the reverse is tilting on this one...is this an error? is it more valuable because of it?

any educational insight is greatly appreciated...also, I am giving this an F12...$26 auction win

Not sure from the photos what you are looking at as an error. What do you see?
I would agree with you on grade at around F-12 providing no problems hidden in the dark areas of the photo.

I dont think it is a rotated die, if that is the error you see. The obverse should be turned a bit counter clockwise. The date is not the bottom of the design...I think. F12 on a good day...looks closer to VG10 IMO.

Slight reverse rotation on 19th century coins is a fairly common occurrence.
